HOWEVER if I set the virtual cable to default, and not just default communications, vr chat DOES pick up the sound, however I can hear nothing at all from my computer EXCEPT for what comes out of vr chat. The mic icon doesn't light up, and nobody responds to what I say. When set up like this I can hear text to speech, but vr chat hears nothing. Now through experimentation I've found that by enabling "hear music/sound" in clownfish's options, I can hear the text-to-speech audio, but counter-intuitively "hear microphone" does nothing. So now under playback, my speakers are set to default, and the virtual cable is set to default communications. You're supposed to set the virtual cable to default under recording, and default communication device under playback. So I've set it up exactly how every goddamn tutorial says to, but it won't work.
